The Blessings of Humility

"...He crowns the humble with victory." (Psalms 149:4)

Modest, unassuming, unpretentious, meek, reserved, and demure. These are descriptors of a person who is humble. The opposite is haughty, arrogant, ostentatious, pretentious, conceited. If I were to choose how to be, I'd choose to be humble. With humility there is room to be brought up higher. Your puffed up sense of self is non-existent and therefore harder to crush. Life is more peaceful when you take a humble approach. There is nothing to defend and protect. You take life as it comes and trust all things to God.

I'm not sure what role humility plays in anxiety, anger, or depressive thoughts. Perhaps the more humility you possess, the lower the self-protection, which may lead to a smaller chance of experiencing, worry, anger, or negative thoughts.  However it works, it's worth leaning into.  I see humility along the same vein as self-respect. God can work with a person who understands the limits to her ability. This is what a humble person does.  They recognize how faulty we all are as human beings and doesn't feel personally attacked when someone calls that out in them.

This is what I aspire to be. There are blessings in humility
