"Come to Me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
A lack of rest does quite a lot to the human body. Sluggish sloven habits, low frustration tolerance, limited ability to follow through with discipline, poor judgment, foggy brain, shortened life span. I could go on.I appreciate a day of rest, and I practice that weekly.
But what about the daily rest for the mind? What about carrying a restful spirit with you when not working or laboring. Homeschooling and parenting well can be a constant pull on our emotional reserves. Even when well rested it can be a challenge, but when we are sleep/rest deprived, it is far worse.
In this very moment, I choose to be thankful in advance for the rest that comes when I know that I can go and receive all that my Savior wants to bless me with. To the weary and burdened, He says come. With such an invitation, how could I say no?
Thank you for mental rest
Thank you for physical rest
Thank you for emotional rest
For all these things, I am thankful.
