"The Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless." (Psalms 84:11)
Favor, honor, good things. These are all ours as a natural result of walking with integrity. A recurrent theme of many of the scriptures I've been meditating on, is the idea that God is good. He wants our best interest. How frequently is it that we somehow believe that God is there to punish and condemn us? He wants good for me. He wants good for all of those who love Him.
Can we dare to believe that God is a good God? Can we experience the truth that He is available to us when we ask? How do we come to know and believe that these things are true? A true knowledge of God is what it takes. Knowing that His love is so great that He would bestow favor and honor and not withhold any good thing from us.
I take comfort in this verse about knowing God:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 9:23,24)
