"Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted." (Hebrews 2:18)
I think it's amazing how God works. He came down from heaven, clothed in humanity and suffered temptations. Temptations. The same kind of that we go through. But it doesn't stop there. Because He was tempted, He now is able to help us who are also tempted. His divinity is not beyond the human struggle. What a thought.
He wants to help us, because He suffered the pain of being tempted. He doesn't just want to help us, He wants us to help others too. He set an example for us to help and uplift others as we also overcome our own temptations as well. Have you suffered temptation and found a way to overcome it? Do you feel it a duty to help others who may suffer like you have?
For me, I have suffered from negative spiraling thoughts. When this happens, then comes anxiety and depression. I am so thankful for the things I've suffered, because, now I can speak of my experiences and try to help those who are struggling with the temptation towards negative thinking and deep depression.
I thank God that He can help me in any temptation. He is available. If I open my eyes, pay attention and embrace His ever-present help I realize He is always there. He is such a good God. For this, I am so thankful.
