"Everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the one who knocks the door will be opened."(Matt 7:8)
Ask, seek, knock. Is it really that simple? I love this verse because Jesus makes it so easy. Today I had moments where I took this counsel to heart.
During my prayer time, I asked, Lord, to give my children three things. 1. Wisdom. 2. The Holy Spirit, 3. A sense of their calling and mission.
This morning, Benjamin accepted his consequences for a major tantrum the night before. He now has to wait for a special toy he wanted to play for several days. After some crying, he accepted. I believe God is giving him patience.
Later in the afternoon, Shiloh played a cover to a lyrically rich song by an amazing Christian artist, Sara Groves. She seemed to embody a person who will soon bless others with music. She sang with conviction and power. I believe, little by little perhaps God is giving her a sense of the calling he has for her.
In the evening, Norah chose to go outside and calm herself down after an argument she had with Benjamin. She could've chosen to be angry and respond in harshness toward him. Instead, she made a emotionally intelligent decision to do something to calm herself down. I think at that moment, God gave her wisdom.
My prayers are for my children. I want to see them thrive. I will keep asking, seeking, and knocking, so that God can answer these prayers in a way that brings glory to Him. I am grateful for the way He has blessed. I will continue to ask and receive, seek and find, and knock and open doors. For all of these things, I am so grateful.
