Prayers of the Righteous

 "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."James 5:16

The Prayer. Prayer is a conversation between me and God. Sometimes I speak, other times I listen. It is a way for me to share what is on my heart. It is also a way for me to listen to what God wants to tell me. The Holy spirit takes our prayers and interprets them to the throne of God. 

Of a Righteous person. A  righteous person is one who is made right with God. They have faith in Jesus and believe that His life has covered their sins. They are justified (just as if I'd not sin) They trust that their prayers are reaching God's throne. 

Is Powerful. Powerful prayers carry weight, it is rich in content, it is real, full of passion and emotion, like a gust of wind or a rushing river. It is like David's prayers in Psalms, which are all great examples of how and what to pray for.

And Effective. It is "successful at producing a desired or intended result" (Oxford definition) God hears our prayers. He is available. That is an effective prayer when we know that our prayers have reached the throne of God regardless of how WE want Him to move. His ways are above our ways. He will always answer according to our good and in movement towards our ultimate salvation.  When asking in prayer we receive, in seeking we find, in knocking the door is opened.  We may not see the results immediately. But in asking for things clearly according to God's will, (fruits of the spirit, God-like character, forgiveness of sins, etc.) the answer is immediate. For we can be confident if we ask anything according to His will and we know that He hears those prayers. 

This is truth. These things we ought to remember. We claim the righteousness of Christ as we pray trusting that our prayers reach God. He longs to answer our prayers. I choose to receive Him today. Test Him, Try Him. He will not fail you.
