He's Always There

"The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer." 1 Peter 3:12

One of the most valuable things I want to pass on to my children is the idea that God sees and understands them, and that He is available to them. I imagine all of my children as adults embracing the unseen reality of God being their guide. So often we forget that God is a prayer away.

I wonder how much more at peace we would be if we kept this in mind and remembered the times He came through for us? What if our children had an ever-present awareness of God? What if they develop the habit of quiet dialogue with God that could create a sense of security within them?

I think of the monk Brother Lawrence who was always present to God walking with him. I think of Jesus who was in constant communion with God as He went about fulfilling His mission on Earth. I think of the Bible verse in Hebrews, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith." This moment by moment abiding in God yields a strong, secure, resilient young person turned adult. This is the type of grit and character in young people that is needed in our world today.

"Dear Lord, I pray that my children would come to know your presence moment by moment. I pray that they realize that Your eyes are on them. That Your ears are attentive to their prayer. Show up in a mighty way for my children today. Help them to remember that You are a faithful God who is always available to them."

Today, may your children be blessed. May you educate your children in a way that they remember how near God is to them. May you yourself remember that God is ever present and available to us as well. If you know of someone who would feel especially blessed by God's message of His availability to us, please share.
